Raison d’Être Opéra invites you to refine your voice and performance skills in this nurturing setting. Our Voice Labs offer an opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals, as well as connecting with fellow performers. Whether you're a singer or actor, this is your space to grow and embrace your artistic journey!

David Jones integrates body awareness techniques in his vocal coaching
Performer Development Workshops (September 18-20)
A weekend of performance development workshops, kicked off on Friday evening by a masterclass with David Jones, will provide vocal and acting coaching as well as bodywork including the Alexander Technique and the Feldenkrais Method across three days:
Friday, September 18, 7:00 – 9:30
Saturday, September 19, 5:30 – 9:30
Sunday, September 20, 1:30 – 5:30 and 7:00 – 9:30

1776 with An All-Female Cast (October 30)

Timed to occur on the birthday of Founding Father John Adams, this production of the beloved musical 1776 will feature women in all the major roles: Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Dickenson, Abigail Adams, and of course John Adams.
We will be auditioning for this production on September 6 and September 8!

Annual "That's Amore!" concert: Cupid on Broadway
Saturday, February 14, 2027
This yearly favourite, a full concert of love songs featuring singers from RDO's roster, will take a break from opera this year and instead feature selections from Broadway shows about love.

New Deborah Sampson opera, by composer Basil Considine, to premiere in May 2027

In co-production with Really Spicy Opera, this new commission by composer Basil Considine will tell the story of the Revolutionary War Heroine Deborah Sampson. It will feature a quintet of soloists, plus an SATB ensemble of 8-12.
Callbacks with the composer will follow season auditions later this fall, with workshops tentatively beginning in January 2027.
