Resources for mature singers
RDO is committed to providing opportunities for mature singers to perform. As part of that commitment, we offer the following resources to help keep your voice and technique in the best possible shape.
A number of RDO members study with David Jones — international vocal pedagogue who offers master classes at universities and conservatories. He offers techniques to keep the aging voice in its best possible shape. His website is here.
RDO sponsors several events timed around the annual visit by David Jones each fall to the Twin Cities.
This year's events will be held the third weekend of September and will include a smaller master class in Minneapolis and additional performance workshops.
The master class at Lake of the Isles Lutheran Church will feature mature singers on Friday, September 18, 7:00-9:30PM.
His second master class will be on Saturday, September 19, at Hamline University in Saint Paul from 10:00AM-noon and 1:00-3:30PM. This class will feature a wider age range of singers, from high school to mature adult. To reserve a place in the master class audience, either live-streamed or in person, contact David Jones directly at david@voiceteacher.com. Payments are accepted via Venmo; the cost is $90.
Private instruction from David Jones is also available in a limited capacity on September 17, 18, 21, and 22. The fee is $140/hour, payable via Venmo. Please contact him directly to schedule at david@voiceteacher.com.
Private coachings with Karen Huffstodt are available on September 21 & 22, 11AM-4PM in Minneapolis. The fee is $100/hour (Venmo or cash), and the singer must bring an accompanist. To schedule, please contact Debra Gilroy at debragilroy@gmail.com.
