About the event
In May, we will perform our second fully-produced opera, THE MOTHER OF US ALL, with music by Virgil Thomson and libretto by Gertrude Stein. Since its premiere in 1947, this extraordinary work of music-theater has been widely praised for its unique blend of American folk music, poetic language and the human complexity of its portrayal of the heroic figure of Susan B. Anthony in her fight for women’s suffrage. Performances on May 16 and 17, 2025 will take place at the historic Woman’s Club of Minneapolis, which served as a headquarters of the suffragist movement in the early 20th century. Sonja Thompson is our esteemed music director, and Frank Theater artistic director, Wendy Knox, will stage the production.
