"The Bremen Town Musicians," an operetta”by John Davies, presents the folk tale of four animals (a dog, cat, rooster, and donkey) who are about to be “put out to pasture” because of their advanced age. It is an allegory for how the “usefulness” of older people may be misperceived; and the alliance of cat, dog, rooster and donkey is a metaphor for the strength possible through diversity.

Gary Briggle, Executive and Artistic Director of RDO, talks to the audience about the many metaphors in this story for the ages.
