Join the RDO roster of singers
Raison d’Être Opéra is always seeking singers, generally aged 55+, who are eager to continue performing in a variety of genres: opera, musical theater, and art song, as well as the Great American Songbook.
We give concerts at local venues and retirement communities throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area, including Veterans Day celebrations, holiday caroling parties, and our annual Valentine's Day concert. Most significantly, we produce at least one opera every season — such as Paulus' The Village Singer, Thomson's The Mother of Us All, and this past season, the exciting premiere of All in Time, commissioned for us by composer/librettist Paul John Rudoi.
Formal auditions are scheduled in relation to our productions.
Our 2026-27 performance season auditions concluded on September 8.
We're always in need of volunteers, so if you missed these auditions, or have any audition-related questions, please email our Executive Director, Gary Briggle (at brigglegary@gmail.com), about your area of specific interest in participation.
In addition, we offer Voice Labs, master classes, and workshops which encourage singers to grow in skill and confidence as expressive singer-actors with healthy, holistic technique. Learn about our upcoming Performer Development Weekend and supplemental coaching opportunities here!
